Our import process is designed to be simple and efficient. First, you can easily reach out to us via email at sales@premiummotorsport.com.au or by calling +61478386999. Once you’ve contacted us, the next step is to pay the deposit of AUD 1000, which kicks off the process. After receiving your deposit, we will actively search for your ideal car at auction in Japan. Our experienced team will conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and provide you with a detailed report, ensuring you have all the information you need to make an informed decision. If you’re satisfied with the inspection results, we will place a bid on your behalf up to your specified budget amount. This ensures that you remain in control of your investment while we handle the complexities of the auction process.
Once we successfully win the auction, you will need to pay for the vehicle and settle the balance of our fee. After the payment is processed, we will arrange for the car to be shipped to Australia. We take care of all the logistics involved in shipping, including compliance and ensuring that your car meets Australian roadworthy standards. Our team will handle the necessary paperwork, making the entire process as smooth as possible for you. We understand that importing a car can seem daunting, but our expertise ensures that every detail is managed efficiently.
The expected timeline for the entire import process is typically between 12 to 16 weeks from the purchase at auction to when you can finally drive your car in Australia. However, it’s important to note that shipping delays can occasionally extend this timeframe to 16-20 weeks. Understanding this timeline is essential for planning, especially if you have specific deadlines or events in mind.
When it comes to costs, the fees associated with importing a Japanese car can vary significantly. The initial deposit of AUD 1000 is non-refundable and is required to commence the process. The balance of the fee, is due once we win the car at auction. This fee depends on the vehicle’s final landed and complied price.

Once your deposit is secured, we will send you listings of upcoming vehicles via email or Whatsapp, allowing you to review options that match your preferences. You can select the cars you’re interested in, and our team in Japan will conduct in-person inspections, providing you with a comprehensive report on each vehicle’s condition, modifications, and any potential issues. This level of detail ensures that you are fully informed before making a purchase decision. Additionally, if you decide that a vehicle does not meet your expectations after inspection, you have the option to cancel without incurring any fees. This flexibility is designed to give you peace of mind throughout the process.
Shipping typically takes about 2-3 weeks to confirm and book. Once the car is on the boat, it will take approximately 3-4 weeks to arrive in Australia. Upon arrival, you’ll need to pay GST, customs fees, and shipping costs. Our team will organize the tow to compliance, and payment for compliance services will be due upon completion. We handle all the details, ensuring that your car meets Australian regulations and is ready for the road.
In total, expect around 12-16 weeks to have your vehicle road-ready in Australia. To help you manage your finances, payments are made in stages: First, you’ll pay the deposit. When we win the car, you’ll pay for the vehicle to Japan and settle any remaining balance. Approximately 8-10 weeks later, you will need to pay for shipping, GST, and customs fees one week before the car arrives. Finally, 12-16 weeks later, you’ll pay for compliance, roadworthy certification, registration, and stamp duty. Being aware of this payment schedule helps you plan your finances effectively.
It’s also important to note that there are no auctions on Sundays, and Mondays usually have limited availability. The busiest auction days are from Tuesday to Saturday, which means you’ll have plenty of options during the week. Additionally, costs not included in the estimates are roadworthy certificates (RWC), registration, and stamp duty, which can vary by state. We can ship vehicles to various locations across Australia, and for specific pricing and details, we encourage you to contact us directly.
Note: 1 AUD = 95 JPY
Please note, Japanese auction fee will be added to the final auction price. The fee is variable. For example: if the auction price is under 1,000,000 yen then Fee is 90,000 yen, if the auction price is 1,000,001 yen to 1,500,000 then Fee is 100,000, if the auction price is 1,500,001 to 2,000,000 then Fee is 115,000 yen.
*Australian government compliance charge 2000 AUD to be added to the total.
